A bit of a history: in 1988, Lindsay and Moira Merrithew opened their first Pilates studio in Toronto, Canada. Lindsay, President & CEO, focused on building and diversifying the business. Moira, Executive Director, Education, who had certified as an Instructor at the original Pilates studio in New York, began training clients.
With a team of business and health and fitness experts, Lindsay created a vertical approach to the business with strict attention to detail at every level, from equipment to programming. Much of Merrithew’s equipment is manufactured and assembled at the company plant in Toronto, Canada.

A bit of a history: James D'Silva, the creator of The Garuda Method, was born and raised in Goa, before moving to England to become a professional dancer. Since then, he has performed, choreographed and taught all over Europe and the USA. In 2000, James opened his own Pilates studio in London. He has worked with Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow, among others, and has also created fitness DVDs with Trudie Styler.
Garuda offers a cardiovascular workout while drawing deeply on mental focus. The result is a stronger, leaner body, improved posture and true ease of both movement and mind.
James D'Silva also invented Garuda Apparatus - a unique, versatile, and multi-functional. With its large split platform, chair attachment, increased range of movement within the framework and the outstanding adjustability of the pulleys, ropes, stability sling, bars and straps; it takes exercise, body conditioning to another level.
